JavaFX: 32 bit JRE on 64-bit Ubuntu

First try to run your JavaFX application using 32-bit JRE on 64-bit Ubuntu, if you get any exception related to Quatum Renderer initilization, then install the following packages,

sudo apt-get install gcc-multilib libgtk2.0-bin:i386 libxtst6:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386

sudo apt-get install --reinstall gtk2-engines-murrine:i386 libcanberra-gtk-module:i386 unity-gtk2-module:i386 libatk-adaptor:i386 libgail-common:i386 overlay-scrollbar-gtk2:i386

Serial Port Plugin to Sublime Text

I wanted to do something with this excellent Text Editor’s extensible plugin framework. So why can’t I try developing a extension which is useful for people who(don’t know how you feel, but I’m bored) often bored using serial port clients like minicom, kermit, PuTTy,TeraTerm,.. I’m not telling they are completely bored, but not much intuitive in-terms of user interface and functionality.

So how to make the debugging people to feel happy? They often good coders 🙂 mostly hung with text editors. They know how to use the best features of text editors. But why they need another piece of software to interact with serial port? Why can’t use their best text editor named sublime itself ?

Not bad aha :-). Quite promising know 🙂 No?? 😦

As like a list of files in their sublime project, sublime can managed to show list of serial devices as well (Thanks for *nix, I copied your idea :D). If users opens it, contents from serial device populated similar like normal file, if user types anything then it will be written to serial port.

Yes, you can open /dev/ttyS0;

Yeah! Just like a  text editing you can interact with serial devices. I don’t know whether it will be useful for you or not, but surely useful for my day by day work.

I’m going to make it simple, don’t know will it be best or not!!. Will meet you soon with design patterns for this plugin implementation. Ah, I got opportunity to make my python skill strong :D. Thanks sublime.

Still more features coming for you!! How about forwarding your serial port across your computer using sublime? You can do more!! Enjoy more!!

Sublime Text, One more Favorite Piece of Software After Linux Kernel & WebKit

Sublime Text is the great piece of cross platform text editor I ever seen. I fall in love with that after using it 🙂 Never tried use any editors(except vim, my next fav. text editor) after using Sublime. Even-though it is a propitiatory software I love it 🙂

Easily extendable via plugin, so adding more features to the this Text Editor is so easy. It is implemented using Python. Great thing with this is the author, he is the one & only man behind this excellent Text Editor.

It has plenty of useful extension installable via Plugin Package Manager.

Yes, it is Simple & It is Best. Enjoy Editing, Enjoy Hacking !!! 🙂

As a open source enthusiastic I would like to involve in the below works during my leisure time,

1. Event based multi-threaded resolver support for libcurl(yes, curl_multi_fdset should return proper socket descriptor even though curl easy handle is in resolving state while system resolver is enabled).

2. cairo-directfb interface optimization.

3. B2G(Boot to Gecko -> Boot to Webkit) possibilities(Gap between B2G and Chromium OS).

4.Running standalone Dalvik(without android framework to run android apps on tv).

5. Android Device battery utilization profiling & optimization.

6.Skia acceleration on top of DirectFB.

7.Finding-out better way to update android apps(Currently a minor change in android application results the entire app to be downloaded-waste of bandwidth & time. Since android application is a modified all-in-one java class file, update can be only class files which is modified. Not equally a diff patch)

8.Contributing to WebKit

9.Chromium Extension to support HbbTV
